Listening to it now. Love Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding. This is such a great track for Elton to come on stage to.
Still amazing to think that one man wrote such a diverse set of tunes in such a short time for this album. Genius.

Elton’s planning a special event for the 40th anniversary of the release of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road next year.

What should he do? Where should he play? If he were to play the whole album, which track would you most look forward to hearing?

Answers on a postcard please 😉

This Song Has No Title – Not sure I’ve ever heard a live version of it and I love the song.

It’s a very theatrical album so I’d like to see him play small theatres with some kind of live dance or performance mixed in. You know where gangsters are running about the stage during Danny Bailey, or Your Sister Can’t Twist opens with a frenzied dance hall scene.

Well you did ask : )

Maybe somewhere like the Koko in London? That’s appropriately theatrical.

Or he could play at the Chateau d’Herouville. That would be suitably impressive.

There was that 35th anniversary concert in New York (I think) in 2008 where everyone complained cos Elton only appeared for one song. Hopefully he’s learnt from that!

Love the idea gangsters etc running around – like Bugsy Malone. These secret cinema things where everyone dresses up and props from the films are everywhere are really popular at the moment. A GBYBR-themed interactive concert. Marvellous idea.

Might not work with all the songs though 😉
